About Us

The Phoenix Centre, also known as The Hill Community Development Trust (HCDT), was established over 25 years ago to manage The Phoenix Centre in Townhill and provide a community hub for the three distinct communities of Townhill, Mayhill and Gors Avenue.

HCDT is a not-for-profit organisation with charitable aims and operates as a social enterprise, reinvesting into the centre and the local community. Our purpose is to help relieve the effects of poverty and support the ongoing regeneration of the area by providing accessible facilities, services and opportunities for local people.

The Phoenix Centre is home to a wide range of facilities and services, including affordable childcare through Paradise Community Nursery, our community café, conference and meeting rooms, sports facilities on our All-Weather Pitch and Townhill Library. Our adaptable conference and meeting spaces are used by a wide range of partners to deliver training, education, meetings, workshops and other activities.

The building also has 10 business units, which are home to a variety of organisations and services, including a Community Shop and employment support services. Our units also provide space for local organisations, businesses and new start-ups.

Around the centre, there are even more facilities for the local community to enjoy, including changing rooms, a newly refurbished children’s playground, Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) and skatepark.

The centre is accessible, with disabled access, accessible toilets and baby changing facilities, as well as free on-site parking.

Conference Rooms

Our conference facilities can comfortably seat up to 70 delegates, but with flexible partitions we can accommodate any number of delegates up to this number.

Our conference rooms tend to be used for a wide range of purposes including seminars, training courses, conferences, lectures, presentations celebrations and other events.

What people are saying

Steph

Very nice community cafe and library. All staff are very helpful, which is needed as so much goes on here. Food was great and affordable, so ideal for pensioners and families. Environment is clean and bright including the loos. Wheelchair accessible building.

Lots of different clubs and activities on site from a nursery to Monday night free meal club for everyone. A reminder of why Swansea is such a great place to live outside the main tourist zone. Our council is getting it right in creating spaces where the community can come together.”
