What another great turnout from our community for our annual lantern parade, proudly funded by the Local People Project.
With help from our volunteers and staff, we’ve been running lantern workshops since early November. Children from our community came along to create their very own lanterns

We set off from The Phoenix Centre and braved the stormy weather singing Christmas songs, led by the police and followed by St John’s Ambulance . It was great to see so many local residents come out to wave and cheer on the children along our route.

After the parade was complete, we then headed to St Nicholas church for the annual ‘Christingle’ service. The children loved learning about Christmas and making their very own ‘Christingle’

Refreshments were then available in the Church hall for everyone to rest their legs and warm up with a cuppa.

A huge thank you to those who participated and made this years one of the funniest yet – the hail, thunder, lightning and sleet certainly didn’t stop us and what a giggle we had. We can’t wait for next year already.
We would like to say a massive thank you to the following:-
Ricky, Leanne & Laura for holding the workshops.
Phoenix Café for helping us with the refreshments
Our Local People Project committee members for supporting the event and giving up their time
St John’s Ambulance & our local Police members for ensuring we were safe along our route.
St Nicholas & St Jude’s church for a brilliant service and use of the church hall.
And finally the Local People Project, for funding another great event that brings our community together, at Christmas time.
